For the application of the VAT exemption, foreigners and Colombians who enter the national territory without the intention of settling in Colombia and who prove such condition are considered residents abroad. The foreigner residing abroad must demonstrate their status by presenting the original passport, the Andean card or the Mercosur card that proves their immigrant status. To do this, the passport must be stamped with the PT code (tourism permit) with a validity of 90 days or the type V visitor visa. The national will accredit his status as a resident abroad by presenting the documentation issued by the authorities of the country of residence (identity document of the country of residence, foreigner's identity document, residence card or certificate of residence), together with the corresponding stamp of residence. The entry to the country stamped in the Colombian passport; therefore, it does not apply if entry into the country is through biometric migration. The exemption will be applicable in all cases of purchase of a tourist package by the national or foreigner residing abroad.
